What is an RD Calculator?
An RD Calculator helps estimate the maturity amount of a Recurring Deposit. In an RD, you deposit a fixed amount every month for a selected period and earn interest on those deposits.
How Does This RD Calculator Work?
Each monthly installment remains invested for a different length of time. Earlier deposits therefore generally earn interest for longer than deposits made near the end of the RD tenure.
For each monthly installment:
FV = P × (1 + r/n)n×t
The calculator estimates the maturity value of each monthly deposit separately and then adds all installment values.
P = Monthly RD installment
r = Annual interest rate
n = Compounding frequency per year
t = Time for which each installment earns interest
Interest Earned = Maturity Amount − Total Deposits
RD Example
Annual Interest Rate: 7%
RD Tenure: 5 years
Compounding: Quarterly
Number of monthly installments: 60
Total amount deposited: ₹3,00,000
The maturity amount will be higher than the total deposits because each installment earns interest for the period it remains in the RD.
FD vs RD
A Fixed Deposit generally starts with one lump-sum deposit, while a Recurring Deposit is funded through regular monthly installments. An RD can be useful for people who want to build savings gradually instead of investing a large amount at once.
Disclaimer: This RD Calculator provides an estimate for educational and financial-planning purposes. Actual RD maturity calculations can vary between banks because of installment dates, compounding rules, rounding methods, interest-rate policies, taxes, TDS, delayed installments and premature closure rules. Check the applicable bank or financial institution’s terms before making a deposit.
