What is an Invoice Calculator?
An invoice calculator helps calculate the amount a customer needs to pay after considering quantity, unit price, discounts, taxes, shipping and other charges.
Invoice Subtotal Formula
Quantity × Unit Price
Discount Formula
Subtotal × Discount Rate ÷ 100
Taxable Amount
Subtotal − Item Discount − Additional Discount
Tax Formula
Taxable Amount × Tax Rate ÷ 100
Final Invoice Formula
Taxable Amount + Tax + Shipping + Other Charges
Balance Due
Final Invoice Total − Amount Paid
Invoice Example
Unit Price: ₹1,000
Subtotal:
10 × ₹1,000
= ₹10,000
10% Item Discount:
= ₹1,000
Taxable Amount:
₹10,000 − ₹1,000
= ₹9,000
18% Tax:
₹9,000 × 18%
= ₹1,620
Shipping: ₹500
Final Invoice:
₹9,000 + ₹1,620 + ₹500
= ₹11,120
If ₹5,000 has already been paid:
Balance Due = ₹6,120
Subtotal vs Invoice Total
The subtotal is the value of the items before discounts, taxes and additional charges. The final invoice total is the amount after all adjustments have been applied.
Discount Before Tax
This calculator applies both entered discounts before calculating the tax. The tax is therefore calculated on the discounted taxable amount.
Tax and Additional Charges
This general-purpose calculator calculates the entered tax rate on the discounted item value. Shipping and other charges are then added separately. Actual tax treatment of shipping, delivery, fees and other charges can differ depending on the applicable tax system.
